WenckE art in words and pictures

You can recognize a WenckE by the purity of the work. Themes such as gender and sexuality, freedom for people and animals, oppression and mental health are frequently discussed.

Work by WenckE

An anarchic approach to material and creativity is central. As a connoisseur of the street and having lived in all levels of society, all art styles also weave together seamlessly. Whether this is with a spray can or brush and oil paint, water-based or pigment granules, with found objects to natural materials and waste. Fire, plastic, photos or metal, WenckE processes everything in a series.

As a street artist, life was different than as an anime of the rich. As a partying queer, different from Bonus Mother. But the search for good and beautiful has always remained.

And now here is a new exhibition that also shows more maturity and more courage. Out of the Closet, and dare, that is the personal note to Memories of Japan.

Milestones

Work

Nature, politics, feelings and eroticism are themes that WenckE works with. Sometimes very small and soft. On paper and acrylic. Regularly large and hard. With oil paint, spray cans and raw materials found on the street or the workshop. Always well thought out. Always slightly different and always in harmony.

To travel

Been traveling since the age of 19. And combined with painting, welding, woodworking and writing. Meeting many people is central to WenckE and is one of the things that inspired the work. Being different, becoming different, seeing different. Throughout Europe, Canada, Africa and Asia, atmospheres from many cultures and beliefs can be seen and felt. Spirituality and anarchism flow through WenckE's works. And now, at 47 years age, technology and quality seem to come together with freedom and courage.

Today

After an inspiring month-long trip in Japan, WenckE returned with a suitcase full of inspiration and ideas. And we see that again in Memories of Japan. Stylized, rough and experimental, a variety of style and material. Freedom can be smelled, felt and seen! WenckE has worked hard these four months and will let us experience Japan
at work.

Totally WenckE

WenckE identifies as Queer. And sees a little madness as a sauce for life and a spark of magic befor death.
Transience and thus immortality are central to WenckE's entire life. Being confronted with death and illness at an early age makes living the art! Something changes, and rarely does anything disappear. Something is different, and sometimes that's better, sometimes that's a shame.
What will never happen is boredom. Boring is the same as not living. That is why we must live, move, change and live. WenckE thinks.
Previously this all was also possible with drugs and drink, but now it is mainly simplicity and humility that can be found, and no needs for extremely abuse of chemical products.

After a quieter period, WenckE is now back and productive again. Totally WenckE
